Tube expansion and reduction for better fitting

Based in the West Midlands but serving businesses across the length and breadth of the UK, you can be fully assured of our expertise when it comes to providing tubes that are custom made to your exact specifications and requirements. Among our various other services, we provide tube expansion and reduction, allow tubes to be linked together easily. It is essential that tubes can be joined together with a tight, leak-free seam, particularly in products such as heating systems or in automobile parts. Tube expansion and reduction allows this to happen.

For tube expansion, we utilise two different methods. Ram forming allows us to force a formed die into the end of the tube. Once forced in a certain length, it is then retracted, having formed an expanded opening within the tube. For a more customised size, we utilise a hydraulically operated expanding die, which opens up into a variety of segments. In doing so, the amount that it opens can be controlled to a fine degree, meaning that the amount that the tube expands can be customised to the degree required by our clients.

We can also reduce the ends of tubes. Using hydraulic end formers or rotary reducing machines, we shrink the end of a tube which allows it to be slotted into other tubes. Rotary reduction is used to preserve the actual inherent strength and durability of the tube while hydraulic end formers allow for a far greater reduction than what can be normally achieved. However, rotary reduction also offers the benefit of being able to layer tubes, meaning that tubes of different materials can be reduced together to create a customised and much more task specific tube.

Whatever your needs are for either tube expansion or reduction, you can be assured that we have the machinery and knowledge required to fully provide you with either or both of these services. We utilise tubes that are made out of a variety of materials, including brass and copper, and we can expand or reduce tubes to your exact specifications. It doesn’t matter what your requirements or what industry you work in: we will provide you with the exact tubes that you need, when you need them.
